The paradox of the grid: still movement
Stainless steel and black aluminum wire mesh grids are filled with abstract line art made from wires and violin strings creating vibrant illusions of movement
Wires and violin strings in wire mesh grids appear to move across the surface! The grid creates the visual phenomenon of moving patterns due to the Moiré effect. This dynamic effect creates an ever-changing pattern that becomes a secondary art work interacting with the primary art work observed as viewers approach. An illusion of movement is created, but of course the grids are still! Hence, the paradox of still movement. The grids create a richly textured surface with an illusion of depth in which wire line art is suspended and reflected by the aluminum panel beneath.
